I'm very glad to announce a number of video recordings made by Thomas Engelaer on the last concert of BLAFFF. My piece called "Thisway Vandah" was added amongst the videos on this website. This month I'll be performing twice with a new project I've joined called MannGold de Cobre. Let's call it atmospheric and solid rock with 8 horns! The band includes members of Fifty Foot Combo, Flat Earth Society and many more. You can listen to some rehearsal recordings on the facebook bandpage and make sure to come and see us on 9 March in Mechelen and 23 March in Ghent! Also this month Aardbeefman is mastering the new disc. Keep an eye out for more news on the release date and release concert.

First of all I wish you a very happy 2012. This new year seems to be very promising for me in both my professional life as well as my personal life.

The first big feature in 2012 will be the CD release of Aardbeefman. On our debut album I perform alto, tenor, baritone and bass sax parts, and also some vocal contributions. The release date and location will be announced soon, so if you are into jazz and free jazz with a lot of humour and exquisite playing: keep an eye out for this!

Furthermore there will be a very nice collaboration with MannGold and Peter Vermeersch (Flat Earth Society) and some very interesting news about Dame Jeanne & Sarah Chebaro!

The upcoming weekend is a very special one to me. On Friday 30 September I play a concert with BLAFFF in Het Keizershof in Tunhout. This will be the first time in a very long period that I have to the chance to perform for my relatives and old friends, but also for my pupils and collegues from the Heilg Graf Instituut. On this occassion BLAFFF will play a new composition by me, entitled BLAFFF Rock.

On Sunday I will finally perform the premiere of "Quiet Man" by Dave Heinick. This American composer, who I've met in Colombia, South-Carolina during the latest USA tour with Thelema Trio, composed this solo piece for baritone saxophone on my request. I'm very honoured and excited to play this wonderful composition in De Warande in Turnhout. The concert is organised by Vocaal Ensemble Capricio, conducted by Anita Verreet. I will perform two pieces with a saxophone quartet as well.

After enjoying the Summer holidays it's time to work again. During this week I'm recording the debut album with Aardbeefman. Several tracks were composed by myself, along with themes, concepts and songs of Jeroen Malaise and Steven Michielsen. More info on the release will follow...

This week I'm also rehearsing every night for a theater project of company Madam Fortuna in Borgerhout, Antwerp. In this multimedia project I will perform on the baritone sax at the side of composer and double bass player Joris Vanvinckenroye (Aranis) and percussionist Christer Aerts. The premiere is Friday 26 August on Moorkenspleinfeesten in Borgerhout, check my agenda for the tour dates of this beautiful show.

Cuarteto Casare Clarinetes, a wonderful Spanish clarinet quartet, has performed my piece "Amorpheus" on the XIV Festival de Musica Contemporanea in Córdoba, Spain last month.
